About Me
Welcome! I'm Zack Gelles, and I'm a rising fifth-year PhD student in the Department of Physics at Princeton University, where I am supported by an NSF graduate research fellowship. I work with Eliot Quataert and Frans Pretorius on a variety of topics related to black holes and gravitational physics. I completed my bachelor's degree in physics and mathematics at Harvard in 2022, and I will be applying to post-doctoral positions in the fall of 2026.
Research Snapshot
My research sits at the intersection of theory and observation, using black holes as probes of both astrophysics and classical general relativity. I have worked on topics related to black hole spin measurement, near-horizon electrodynamics, relativistic jets, extremal black holes, and gravitational critical phenomena.
